About our Chapter
Founded in 1980, the Bloomington-Normal Chapter has achieved its strength through the combined efforts of career-oriented members who are interested in both professional development and excellence in communications. The chapter consists of over 50 members from a variety of backgrounds, including: communications businesses and media, national and multi-national corporations, small businesses, non-profit organizations, and educational institutions. Our chapter's main mission is to identify the professional development needs of its members and then design programs and services to meet those needs.
About AWC
The Association for Women in Communications is the one organization that recognizes the complex relationships that exist across communications disciplines. Modern communicators must demonstrate competence in varied disciplines and be able to network and make career moves across the broad spectrum of communications fields. Disciplines represented within the association include: print and broadcast journalism, television and radio production, film, advertising, public relations, marketing, graphic design, multi-media design, and photography. The list is continually growing as the profession expands into the newer media.
